Arghavan Khosravi: "Between Light and Shadow"

September 11 – October 4, 2025
Paris, France

Arghavan Khosravi’s artistic practice is a richly layered exploration of identity, exile, and freedom, intertwining her personal history and Iranian visual traditions with Western contemporary symbolism and painterly techniques. Through a highly crafted iconography, she challenges misogynistic cultural structures and power dynamics, transforming familiar motifs into spaces of resistance, introspection, and psychological depth. Born in Iran in 1984 and later immigrated to the United States to pursue an MFA in painting at the Rhode Island School of Design, following earlier degrees in graphic design and illustration in Tehran, Khosravi transforms personal experience into universal narratives.

Her work is rooted in the intimate yet politically charged experience of being an Iranian woman, unfolding into broader reflections on human rights, resistance, and the psychological effects of authoritarian control. While deeply personal, her imagery invites a
multiplicity of interpretations, offering as many readings as there are viewers who encounter it.
